20 Influential Points for a Maximized YOU

On The Art of Receiving

1.  Those who receive are necessary.  In order for others to give, there must always be one who receives.

2.  Those who receive are givers.  Receivers actually give to givers by giving the opportunity to give.

3.  If I am to be successful in my endeavors, I must learn to both give and receive.

4.  If I am to be successful in my endeavors, I must especially learn how to receive -- for it is the goodwill giving of others that upholds my success.

5.  Two mindsets hinder our ability to receive from others: guilt and pride.

6.  Guilt is oftentimes the result of two lessons from our childhood: first, that giving is somehow better than receiving and second, we are not worthy to receive.

7.  Pride is the exact opposite of unworthiness.  Pride is our personal belief that we are somehow too good to receive from others.

8.  You are a unique creation of God; therefore, you are worthy to receive from others.

9.  It is necessary to practice the art of receiving if we are to overcome the mindsets which limit our ability to receive.  Practice daily.

10.  When someone gives to you, simply say "Thank you."  Such statements as "You shouldn't have." or "Why did you do this?" diminishes the satisfaction and enjoyment of the giver.

11.  Allowing others to give is itself a gift; therefore, always seek out opportunities to receive from others -- these opportunities are everywhere and will be found when sought.

12. We naturally want to give to those we like; therefore -- if you want to receive -- be likeable.

13. If we receive with a spirit of gratitude, more will be given to us.

14. If we fully use what we have received, even more will be given to us.

15. If we undervalue and disregard what we have been given, we will lose all that we have.

16. Those who lack the necessities of life have not yet learned to receive with gratitude.

17. It is impossible to undervalue what we receive if we continually receive with a spirit of gratitude.

18. If we want to receive, it is sometimes necessary to ask.  Never be afraid to ask.

19. Never concern yourself with the intentions of the giver; but rather, always celebrate the act of giving.

20. You were created to receive.  As God's unique creation, he continually gives good things to you.
