1.  Your children see you as their hero. Live like one.

2.  Embrace sacrifice.  Fatherhood is a life lived for others.  

3.  Evaluate your priorities.  Do you work to provide your childrens' necessities or do you work for status, prominence, and the praise of others?

4.  Admit parenting mistakes quickly. Your children learn personal responsibility from your example.

5.  Ask for forgiveness often. Your children will give it.

6.  Be patient with yourself. No parent is perfect. 

7.  Your children do not expect perfection, they expect and need love.

8.  Children need to hear three simple words often: I love you.

9.  Do not repeat the past. Our father's mistakes do not need to be ours.

14. Spend time with your children.  Stop allowing television and video games to be your equal.

15. Counter the culture: Teach your son that women are more than objects of desire and his means to a selfish end.

16. You're important. The life you live before your children has consequences for generations to come.

17. A loving marriage is a gift to your children.

18. Build bridges.  Do your children ignore you because of past failings? Seek forgiveness always, become available, communicate your love and be patient.  Your children may need some time.

19. Your children are not your employees.  Stop treating them as such.

20. Keep your promises.  Who will your children trust if they cannot trust you?
